January- bIRTHDAY AND PIZZA BASH

We started off the New Year at the Birtday Party of our friend Louise Barrett. Marcel had been planning this for several weeks; it was a SURPRISE Party, so we all had to keep it from Louise. Marcel almost got caught when Louise opened the trunk of the car one day......but Marcel was quick to make up some story. Kathy Hughes had managed to talk Louise into going shopping that day and promised to keep her away until after everyone had arrived. Bob Huges,Rich and I headed over to help Marcel get everything set up............. Take a look at the pictures. They party was GREAT!
Here's Marcel and tthe 16 year old Birthday Girl!!!

Patrick Hotchkiss entertained the group most all day. What a great musician. That's his wife Lois on the left.

Everyone helped Marcel make the day a big success, bringing a dish to pass. Lots of Food! Lots of fun!!

No........He didn't invite EVERYONE in Tanglewood......but almost. These are the people we got to spend time with almost every day, either on the pickleball courts or at one of the monthly bashes.

Just a few days later, on January 9th the Tanglewood Pickleball Club held it's first Pickleball and Pizza Bash. This was a different pickleball day, one that most of you probably have never encountered. We played most everything but 'regular' pickleball. We played a dink game, a full lob only game, a groundstroke only game where you had to let the ball bounce EVERY time before you hit it. That's just a few; there were seven different games in all.

How many people came out to play that day? This line up of paddles should give you a pretty good idea.
You know that Rich loves to play pickleball.......Well, here he is playing one of those funny games with Barb as his partner. Today's games were a distint disadvantage for Rich! I loved playing the forehand only game against him; all I had to do was hit to his backhand and he couldn't resist. How many games did you win today Rich??

And as usual, the entertainment was out for the event. Here is Louis and Marcel again doing some juggling for the crowds.

And when the playing was over we all gathered in the screen room for PIZZA and beverages!! It was a very fun day. And yes......I almost forgot We all danced the Pickleball Crawl, but you have to go to the USAPA website and check out the article I did there. You'll hear more about the dance and see some great photo's taken by Mark Jones. Click on Pizza and Pickleball Crawl
