Can't believe that it's been a whole week. We've been busy..........but then again, I'm not sure what's been keeping us so busy now that I look back over the week.
I've continued to do a lot of "organizing" inside, while Rich has been doing the same outside. They cut down some of the trees behind us this year, so we were able to put the Direct TV Dish out back instead of right in the front where it was last year. We did some more trimming and cleaning around the site - almost done, but we still need to get the little fire pit cleaned and ready for our first cookout. The mosquitos are still pretty heavy once the sun starts to go down. Wish they would spray here!!!
We did take a trip into Sebring and spent several hours going back and forth between Home Depot, Sears and WalMart and Stewarts. We needed a new ladder. Wish they made a 7ft. Picked up a few other needed supplies and called it a day.
Pauls Kitchen is still serving a great breakfast special. 2 Eggs, Bacon or Sausage, Homefries or Grits, and Toast for $1.99. They expanded the size of the restaurant a little bit - holds about 20 or so more people. We were there twice and it has been very busy. Hate to see that place in the morning when all the RV'ers get in town!
Speaking of RV'ers, we took a ride up to Torrey Oaks to see if anyone had arrived yet. WOW! That place looks like a ghost town! It is still maintained beautifully, but there could not have been more than a handful of rigs parked there. As for here at Peace River, we are really surprised at how many are in the park already.
We mentioned before that they had put in some new lights at the pickleball courts. (Thank Lee when you get here!!) The lights are great. Rich and I and Buddy have been playing almost every evening about 7:00. It's wonderful - not so hot, the sun is down and the lights are great. Buddy and I have been playing against Rich and have been BEAT solidly every game (except one!!!!) So it's obvious that Rich has completely recovered!!! There is a young couple staying in the park, and last evening Art, came over to the courts and decided to learn to play. Rich had met him earlier in the week and encouraged him to come over and give it a try. He's played a little tennis so he learned the game quickly. But like all of us when we first begin, it's remembering to stay out of the kitchen, and getting up to the non-volley line.
Today Jack and Diane arrived and they are parked right in front of the pickleball courts. Talked with them this morning not long after they pulled in...........and we will see them again at the courts at 7:00. And within a few days, I expect that we will have our first Happy Hour!!
